Conflict Consortium Abstract

This book sets forth a holistic approach to resolving conflict that moves beyond analytic and intellectual methods and instead focuses on relationships. The author suggests that through strengthened relationships, respect for identity, and the development of shared meanings, conflicts can be transformed. Mediators and facilitators should look to the wisdom of the body, the emotions, the spirit, and the imagination in their attempts to bridge conflict. This amounts to a creative approach to conflict intervention that aims to foster innovation through the use of new conflict resolution tools. These include stories, metaphors, and rituals.

And they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. -- Isaiah 2:4
