This report offers a summation of the trends of global poverty and inequality over the past decade and possible solutions to relieve poverty and inequality. Proper rural and agricultural development has been shown as an effective policy solution. Factors of this policy must include: the development of rural infrastructure, implementation of educational programs to decrease widespread environmental degradation, and programs to increase the application of sustainable development practices.
